Landstack New Year Update

Hello everyone,

I think I speak for most that we are glad to see the back of 2020. With the vaccine rollout it feels like things are finally trending in the right direction. Everyone at Landstack is looking forward to the freedoms that we will soon have once again.

In the meantime, we have a fresh Landstack update for you to get stuck into. We are priming Landstack for a huge update in March, and this update has some significant improvements in performance and new features that are preparing us for it.

What do we have planned?

We built Landstack because we wanted to solve the big issues that we thought were holding the development industry back:

  • Keeping up to date with planning takes too long. Planning data is presented and accessed in hundreds of different ways and provided in archaic and hard to use formats. The whole industry sits atop a foundation of poorly provided data.
  • Word travels slowly and opportunities along with it. Ask two people what development sites are on the market in any patch and you’ll get two very different answers, when this should be common knowledge. If you identify a strategic site, it’s not easy to find out what sites you would be competing with.
  • It’s difficult to find a partner. Every site is different and often requires a specific partner for it to work. Too many sites with potential are lost because agents and land buyers can’t easily match.
  • Good looking marketing shouldn’t be hard. It’s clear when a site has potential, creating a top marketing pack for a site takes too long and should take minutes to create and distribute.

Next month, we will be opening Landstack up to agents, promoters, estate agents and landowners for them to be able to freely market their land on Landstack. Anyone will be able to use Landstack to publicly share any site they map for free.

Landstack subscribers won’t miss out on the fun. You will get all the benefits of being able to publicly share sites, but will also be able to share them to a list of your choosing. Soon after the March launch, you’ll also be able to receive updates when a site comes on the market that meets your ideal criteria.

The Sitestack

In this update we are introducing a new feature to Landstack, which we’re calling the Sitestack. The Sitestack will replace the sitesheet. Whenever you want any site specific information — to look at specific notes of our planning data or your own sites, you will now use this page.

The Sitestack is the page that will be shared. Think of it as an interactive site plan that you can send to anyone you wish. They can now see what you can see. You’ll have complete control over who sees the page and for how long.

The Sitestack hugely improves the old sitesheet, allowing you to view all of the Landstack data available on the map alongside your site.

A sneak peak at the new sitestack

You will be able to load and interact with planning data, titles, house price data and detailed constraints all on the Sitestack.

The data you load is completely interactive, meaning you can click on relevant data on the map and get more detailed information. All data is limited to a specified area around the site, denoted by bounding boxes where relevant. You can see these in the images above.

The most common reaction we get when showing this to people is “great, but where is this limited to? What areas will it cover?”

Complete coverage of England

Landstack will provide coverage of our planning application and allocation datasets over the whole of England by the end of the month (February), with Land Availability Assessment coverage for the whole of England coming soon after. You can have a look a just how close we are (and just how much data there is) in the image below!

The Landstack team have worked tirelessly throughout lockdown to build Landstack into what you can see here. They’ve vastly exceeded my expectations, and based on all of the data you can see here, I’m sure you’d agree it’s an incredible achievement. Remember, this is data you cannot get to this level of detail anywhere else.

Thats a whistle-stop tour of what we’ve been up to. We have some performance and quality of life changes launching in this update too, which I’ll leave for you to find.

If you’d like more detail on the update, or would like to try Landstack out for yourself, feel free to reach out to myself or one of the team at support@landstack.co.uk or register for free at www.landstack.co.uk/register.

That is everything for now,

We hope everyone is in good health and thanks for reading!

The Landstack Team.
